This is the ride for those who want to feel wild, free and alive. Being one of the toughest but most rewarding horse riding trails in the world, this expeditions is for experienced and fit riders only. You’ll ride 20 – 60 kilometres per day through the endless landscape of the Namib Desert, which allows for long and fast canters.
Before you embark on your horse expedition, you have the opportunity to visit the iconic Sossusvlei area, a World Heritage site. The Namib Desert Safari takes you from the ochre Namib dunes, through the Gaub and Kuiseb canyons, all the way to the wide grassy Namib plains and the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic. The expedition finishes at colourful Swakopmund. During your expedition you’ll have the chance to spot some desert-adapted wildlife such as giraffe, springbok and oryx.
Eat, ride, sleep, repeat. That’s the rhythm of this epic expedition through the Namib desert. You’ll camp wild for eight nights with all the essential camp life luxuries: ice in your sundowners, hot bucket showers, delicious food around companionable campfires and incredible Milky Way views. Living with your horse 24/7 in wild, remote areas is a life-changing sensation and is most likely why these Namibian expeditions have such a high return rate. Close bonds are built with your fellow travel companions and four-legged friends as you live this adventure together.
The first and last night of the trip you’ll stay in a lodge near Windhoek. Your luggage is transported in vehicles each day.
