At a glance
The Tuli Safari is a guests’ favourite, combining riding on exceptionally well-schooled horses, abundant game viewing opportunities, unspoilt landscapes and staying in memorable accommodation.
This safari traverses the Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana’s largest private game reserve in the country’s south-eastern corner. Mashatu is home to no less than seven of Africa’s giants: the elephant, the lion, giraffe, baobab tree, eland, ostrich and kori bustard. It’s a very wild and unspoilt area, with an ancient landscape of rock formations and open plains dotted with giant Baobab trees and riverine bush. Due to the presence of large herds of elephant and lions, this ride is for experienced riders only.
More information
During your trip you’ll stay in three memorable accommodations. Mashatus Camp, nestled in the shade of two large Mashatu trees, is made up of several private walk-in tents. Each tent has a private en-suite bathroom and a small deck area in front where guests can relax privately during the afternoons. Tree Camp is a childhood’s dream coming true. The camp is built 4 metres up in the boughs of a huge Mashatu tree: sleep, eat and shower up in the tree. An experience you’ll speak about for years to come! Lastly in Kgotla Camp you’ll sleep under the stars in an open-air enclosure, made of leadwood logs. Your luggage is transported in vehicles when changing camps.
Non-riders have the exciting option of joining the safari on a bicycle. Cycle out each day on one of the mountain bikes together with the mountain bike guides, before regrouping with the horse riders in your group for meals and sundowners. This option has become very popular amongst mixed groups.
