You’re hosted by a lovely farm and hotel situated in the heart of Iceland‘s south-western countryside along Road No. 1, only a 30 minutes´ drive from Reykjavik. The unique location between volcanic mountains, rivers and the ocean enables guests to experience diverse and fascinating nature. The farm counts up to 350 amazing Icelandic horses in the summer and 60-100 in the winter, all with a lively temperament and friendly personality.
The farm has a diverse selection of 2-5 day tours available for you to choose from. Please contact us to learn more about all the specific options available and to identify which tour would suit you best. Every tour provides further insight into the history and landscape of Iceland and takes you to the most beautiful places in south-west Iceland. These include Thingvellir National Park (a fascinating place on UNESCO´s World Heritage List), black lava beaches, beautiful Thjórsárdalur Valley, the lush district of Fljótshlíd and the colourful hot springs area of Krýsuvík. These tours are for intermediate to experienced riders.
More information
The tours cover equally beautiful sceneries, but differ in comfort and adventurousness. Depending on the tour that you choose, you’ll spend all the nights at the comfortable farm hotel or combine a few nights there with some nights at a nearby guesthouse or at more adventurous sleeping bag accommodations. All meals are always traditional Icelandic.
The countryside hotel has a luxurious atmosphere. It features 37 spacious rooms, a warm, light-filled restaurant and traditional hot tubs to relax in at the end of the day. It was built in accordance with ecological guidelines and is the first lodging in Iceland to be awarded the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. The sleeping bag accommodations include farms, guesthouses, community centres and simple mountain huts (partly dormitory style). Some mountain huts in the highlands only have cold water and no showers. When on the move, your luggage is taken by car between the overnight stops. Wherever you are staying, light pollution is always minimal. This is perfect for those who wish to see the northern lights.
