At a glance

Your base for the week is the beautiful mountain village Navarredonda de Gredos, located in the Sierra de Gredos west of Madrid. From your hotel for the week you ride in different directions each day through varying landscapes, with exciting tapas and lunch breaks on the trail. It’s an unpoilt and wild part of Spain, where you can observe Iberic goats, golden eagles or black vultures. In the middle of the week, there is a mini one-night trail to a different mountain village. Running in summer only, there are opportunities to swim in beautiful fresh water rivers and pools at lunch stops. This trail is an ideal option for families or groups with a mix of more and less experienced riders as you do not have to ride every day if you don’t wish to do so.

More information

On this trip, you’ll be firmly pampered. From the moment you land in Madrid until the end of the trip you will be in the hands of your friendly, knowledgeable hosts Emilio and Mamén. They know the area inside out and love sharing their local knowledge with you. You will stay in a characteristic, family-run hotel. During the day on the trails you will be spoiled by relaxing lunch and tapas breaks with delicious homemade Spanish dishes such as paella, tortilla, Spanish ham, followed by a siesta in the quiet countryside. At dinner you can again enjoy renowned local Spanish recipes and specialties. This is not the place to go hungry!

T

he horses are without a doubt one of the highlights of the trip. Guests ride PRE (Pura Raza Española) horses, almost all of which were bred and trained by Emilio himself. They are strong, reliable and very nice to ride. The horses are considered part of the family and are treated with the utmost care. The rides are easy-going, with exciting canters in between. The average distance covered per day is 25 to 30 kilometres. The equipment (English saddles and bridles without bit) is excellently maintained.

What do others say?

Laure-Anne had prepared the trip incredibly well and really counts down with you until the moment you leave. Amazing! During the trip, there was nothing to worry about. Carefree enjoyment of the horses, the people, the beautiful nature, accommodations and the delicious food. What a beautiful part of Spain too, which you might otherwise never visit. What I find a very big plus: having had some lesser experiences myself in terms of the welfare of the horses on horseback rides, it is blissful that Outside the Corral values this so highly. And how well the horses were looked after there!

What a wonderful holiday! I wanted to plan a fun trip with horses for my daughter and myself, and after searching online, I discovered Outside the Corral. Communication with Laure-Anne was very easy and pleasant. She knows all the destinations personally and was able to put together a proposal that suited us perfectly. After that, it was simply a matter of eagerly counting down to the holiday and we already had so much fun anticipating it.

The holiday itself exceeded all our expectations. We enjoyed every moment. The surroundings were stunning, and everything was organised down to the smallest detail. The horses were truly wonderful. My daughter especially loved the high-level lessons and learned so much from them. The rides through nature were superb, and the food was always delicious and freshly prepared. And I still miss the view from the jacuzzi! A special recommendation for the location in Portugal: don’t miss the evening with live music, it’s absolutely magical.

I heard about Outside the Corral. From the first contact with LaureAnne, I was immediately convinced that I wanted to choose this organization for my first equestrian holiday. LaureAnnes enthusiasm and the clearly obtained information was topnotch. For my first holiday I chose Costa Brava: Coast & Hinterland and of all the participants I had the feeling that we were best informed about everything through Outside the Corral. LaureAnne was also always available, both before the trip and during, which was very reassuring for me. Even after the trip, time was taken to listen to the feedback. My first experience with Outside the Corral was fantastic and I can recommend it to everyone. When I book my next equestrian holiday, it will be with this organization anyway!

So much enjoyed together with my daughter in Ireland, castle Leslie. Nice accommodation, super good guidance and ditto horses. The crosscountry is also a real experience for the more experienced rider with or without jumping experience! Outside the Corral (LaureAnn) thank you for the great guidance and the personal approach!
