This ride is based at a beautiful Irish castle estate in County Monaghan (80 minutes from Dublin), on 1.000 acres of undulating Irish countryside with ancient woodland and glittering lakes. It has a world-class equestrian centre that combines the authentic charm of a country estate with all the amenities you’d expect from one of Ireland’s best horse-riding locations: 300 cross-country jumps, 30 kilometres of meandering riding trails, a 50x30m indoor arena with indoor cross-country fences, a 20x50m dressage arena and much more.

Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced rider, this is the place for you. The estate has different riding programmes available. For beginners and for basically anyone who enjoys the simple pleasure of exploring the countryside on horseback, there is the possibility of beautiful daily estate rides. For the more experienced riders looking to improve their riding skills, there is a sports package available that incorporates a mix of show jumping, cross country, dressage and estate rides.

The estate is one of the last great Irish castle estates still in the hands of its founding family. It offers its guests some of the most unique and enchanting accommodation in the country, combined with the best of classical Irish cooking. Additionally, it’s the perfect place for outdoor activity and adventure, also if you’re a non-rider. Apart from horse-riding some of the available outdoor activities here include walking, clay target shooting, archery, picnics, fishing, boating and horse drawn carriage rides. Alternatively, you might prefer to enjoy a massage in the Victorian treatment rooms at the end of an activity-packed day.

The estate offers guests the option to stay in either the castle or the lodge. Most equestrian guests choose to stay at the lodge, as it is located right next to the equestrian centre and the entrance of the estate. Some of the fifty beautifully restored and decorated rooms in the building even overlook the stables. Additionally, the lodge houses Conor’s bar, Snaffles restaurant and the Victorian treatment rooms, making it the social hub of the estate and the perfect base for your riding holiday.

From the first conversations, we clearly felt a “click”. Laure-Anne understood very clearly what we were looking for and that was for myself an “exciting riding experience” and for my partner a pleasurable wellness. And what we got was an incredibly romantic setting in Ireland with excellent horses and guides (both lessons and trail rides). The whole setting was perfect and, to top it off, we got a gorgeous, sunny summer week in Ireland without a drop of rain. We had no worries, gave everything out of our hands (including the extension of our riding trip with a rental car). Everything was tip-top, like Swiss clockwork!

Laure-Anne was so incredibly kind and helpful in planning every step of the trip, making me feel confident that I was about to have one of the best holidays of my life, which I did! I travelled to Ireland as a non-rider and fully enjoyed the trip! The preparation went very smoothly, everything was prepared down to the last detail.
