At a glance
Get ready for a desert wonderland on this adventurous ride. From the great dune sea of the central Namib to the very edge of the stunning Sperrgebiet National Park, this ride covers very diverse desert terrain: immense grassy plains, signature inselbergs (island mountains), dunes and the rugged Tiras Mountain Reserve as a dramatic backdrop. This incomparable ride ends at Klein-Aus Vista, near the home of the wild horses of the Namib.
Desert-adapted game are encountered during the day, where open country with good going allows for some fast-paced riding. On the last day there is no riding, as you’ll visit the coastal town of Luderitz, explore the extraordinary ‘ghost town’ of Kolmanskop – the town the desert is ‘reclaiming’ – and encounter the wild horses of the Namib.

Eat, ride, sleep, repeat. That’s the rhythm of this epic expedition through the Namib Desert. You’ll camp wild for eight nights with all the essential camp life luxuries: ice in your sundowners, hot bucket showers, delicious food around companionable campfires and incredible Milky Way views. Living with your horse 24/7 in wild, remote areas is a life-changing sensation and is most likely why these Namibian expeditions have such a high return rate. Close bonds are built with your fellow travel companions and four-legged friends as you live this adventure together.
The first night of the trip you’ll stay in a lodge near Windhoek. The last night is spent in a camp in Geistershlucht (Ghost Valley). Your luggage is transported in vehicles each day.
