The setting of this equestrian short break of five days (four nights, three days riding) is the beautiful Karst Plateau in the southwest of Slovenia. This area is home to unspoiled nature with varied landscapes, from breath-taking valleys, to glittering lakes and green forests with abundant wildlife (like boar, wolves, deer, bears and beautiful birdlife). Nature lovers will feel right at home here! You’ll spend 6 to 8 hours per day in the saddle to explore this gorgeous region from horseback and ride passed beautiful historical castles. After an exciting day in the saddle, you’ll return back to your fixed accommodation for a wholesome delicious meal and night’s rest. This short break is ideal for those who wish to explore the area but don't have time for the full week-long trail.
More information
Your hosted by an experienced family-run business, where your host Borut is incredibly knowledgeable about the local wildlife and an experienced wildlife tracker. Guests ride Quarter Horses, Warmbloods or Icelandic horses, who are very well-trained, relaxed and treated as part of the family. Most of the horses are ridden western-style with western saddles and long reins, as your host is an excellent western rider. For the Icelandic horses, English style saddles are used. Your host Borut pays careful attention to matching the right horse to every rider.
Your holiday base is a tourist farm in the small town of Bač. The accommodation is comfortable and clean, but basic. Every room has a private bathroom, but it might not be en-suite. On this ride, you’ll enjoy delicious homemade Slovenian meals. Every morning a breakfast buffet is waiting for you. Lunch is taken on the trail, in a local pub or with a picknick in a beautiful setting. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to taste the delicious local wines.
